Breast Lift, also known as Mastopexy

The consultation

We encourage you to bring your partner or a family member throughout the consultation if you feel they can assist you in making a decision about your health.

Full medical history and examination will be obtained including oncological, breast feeding and family planning.

A full breast analysis including specific attention to the distance from the areola to the inframammary crease, the transverse diameter, the height of the breast and the exact desired position of the inframammary fold.

Following a comprehensive analysis, exact measurements and interactive discussion between you and Dr Barnouti, a decision will be made whether a breast lift is performed alone or in combination with augmentation to further improve the breast shape. The augmentation can be performed using your own fatty tissue, also known as fat injection, or by using an implant.

The surgery

The procedure normally performed under General Anaesthetics or Local anaesthetics with twilight sedation, patient will be able to go home the same day; the procedure generally creates a fine scar around the areola and under the breast.
Every patient is unique, therefore Dr Barnouti tailors the technique to suit your individual needs based on the shape of your current breast, the amount of sagginess, hips and chest proportions.
Breast lift surgery is usually followed by some short-term discomfort that is easily controlled with simple analgesia. A small amount of bruising and swelling is also usually mild and resolves in a short period of time.

After Surgery

Simple tape will be applied on the wound area.

Normally, you will be able to go home on the same day; some patients may need to stay in hospital overnight.

For the first 2 weeks after surgery, you will have to wear a sport bra day and night

For a month after this, you will be required to wear one during the night only.

Stitches are usually dissolvable. Bruising can take 1-3 weeks to diminish.

Scarring is minimal and becomes virtually unnoticeable over time.

Getting you back to work and normal activities

You will need to rest completely for the first 48 hours after surgery.

It is not uncommon to experience a burning sensation during this time.

Return to work after as little as 4 days but only if it does not involve heavy lifting.

Usual physical activity can be resumed after one month.
