Buccal Fat Pad Removal

Buccal Fat Pad Removal is a common surgical procedure to reduce the fullness of the lower cheek and face area by removing the fat pads. It can provide slimmer, smoother, and better-defined cheeks to restore a more youthful, angular appearance.

Cheekbones and buccal fat pads are the two main structures that contribute to making a round face. The buccal fat pad sits under the muscles of the lower cheek, and the size of these pads varies from person to person. Large buccal fat pads are often hereditary and they cannot be significantly reduced by diet and exercise.

A physical examination of the patient’s face is necessary to determine which is responsible and whether the procedure is recommended.

Both men and women can benefit from this procedure.

The procedure is performed as a day only through an internal mouth incision. It has the fastest recovery time among other facial plastic surgery procedures as the incision is only 1cm long inside the mouth and it tends to heal within a week.

The patient can resume their regular daily activity the day after surgery.
